Not my normal genre, but was very pleasantly surprised

A friend from my book club lent me this book and I’ll be honest — this isn’t the kind of book I would normally pick up. Historical romance isn’t usually my thing. But once I started reading Norland: Legacy, I genuinely couldn’t put it down.The world-building is rich and detailed, and you can really feel the atmosphere of the era the author is creating. The story slowly pulls you into the lives, expectations, and pressures of the characters, particularly Rose, whose journey through privilege, duty, and identity makes the story feel both personal and grand at the same time.
What surprised me most was how immersive it became. Even though it’s outside my usual genre, I found myself wanting to keep reading just to see where the story was going next. That’s always a good sign of strong storytelling.
If you enjoy historical settings, elegant storytelling, and character-driven stories about family, loyalty, and legacy, this is definitely worth picking up. Even if it’s not normally your genre — like me — you might find yourself pleasantly surprised
